Description

Açaí (acai) is a berry grown on the açaí palm tree (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to tropical Central and South America and grows mainly in floodplains and swamps. It produces small flowers that are brown to purple in colour. Acai have a high Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) value, making them a powerful antioxidant supplement. It contains high amounts of anthocyanin’s, a group of polyphenols that lend acai its deep purple colour and contribute to its antioxidant activity.
