PHGG is our popular prebiotic fibre supplement, derived from the seeds of the guar plant which have undergone an enzymatic process to make them highly accessible as a fuel for the microbiota.
It is a flavourless, colourless and heat-stable powder so it can be used in a variety of situations such as in hot drinks, smoothies, breakfasts and baking.
As a prebiotic fibre, it does not contain any FODMAPs or excipients, so it is well tolerated in individuals with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and other bowel symptoms.
PHGG is a favourite with clinicians, due to its long chains of galacotomannans, which is a favoured fuel source for key short-chain fatty acid producing bacteria such as Ruminococcus, Faecalibacterium, Bacteroides, and Bifidobacterium.
PHGG is high in fibre, which is often lacking in modern western diets. Fibre can be used to bulk faecal movements, both in cases of constipation and diarrhoea. Dietary fibre can be helpful to increase satiety.

- A plant based high-fibre prebiotic food supplement
Derived from guar beans, PHGG is a convenient source of vegan dietary fibre. The UK government guidelines recommend a daily fibre intake of 30g, however the estimated average adult daily fibre intake is only around 20g. The International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP) suggests at least 5g a day of prebiotic fibre.

The prebiotic bonds in PHGG selectively feeds gut microbiota such as Bifidobacterium, Faecalibacterium, and other short chain fatty acid (SCFA) producing bacteria, which may support microbiota diversity.

PHGG is a heat-stable prebiotic that can be used in baked goods, added into your stovetop meals and smoothies or added to your morning cup of coffee or tea. It can be taken at any time of the day, and it can be taken at the same time as a course of antibiotics.

PHGG has been researched extensively in humans in randomised placebo-controlled clinical trials.
PHGG does not contain any of the major allergens, and we undergo extra finished product testing to test for gluten, casein, lactose and heavy metals.

PHGG is normally well tolerated, but if you have a sensitive stomach, start with half a dose and build up gradually to the full dosage.
PHGG has been consumed by pregnant and lactating women for years, and it has been shown to be a safe way to improve regularity and reduce cramping and bloating. As with any supplement, however, please consult with your health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
